The Desert Within
The desert doesn’t entertain you. It reveals you. And that’s why it changes everything.
The desert is the opposite of everything we’re taught to chase. There are no distractions, no noise layered on top of noise, no promises of entertainment waiting around every corner. There is only what’s essential. It isn’t comfortable, it isn’t gentle, but it’s honest. And honesty has a way of putting everything back in place. Out there, nothing tries to impress you. There is no competition for your attention. The desert doesn’t perform. It reveals. It strips away the character you built for survival in the city and leaves you face to face with what’s real.
Learning to slow down where everything begins to feel honest.
Every time I go to Joshua Tree, the same thing happens. The silence does something. The wind does something. The vastness does something. It reorganizes what the city scatters. It makes you remember the part of yourself that lives underneath all the noise. This is why I created a new experience inside WanderlustLA. Not to show the desert to people, but to let people feel it. To let them listen to what’s inside when the world stops demanding.
It’s a full-day all-inclusive immersion. Breakfast on the road. A curated route through the desert. Quiet time, observation time, presence time. Photography included. Dinner on the way back. Everything designed so you can simply experience — not rush, not perform, not chase.
This is where it happens.
This is a test edition with limited availability, created to refine and evolve the experience before it becomes a permanent part of WanderlustLA’s calendar. If something in you responds to this, trust it. The desert doesn’t call loudly. It calls truthfully.
To join this immersion, simply select the Desert Experience Add-On when booking your day trip.

How to Handle LA Traffic and Still Enjoy the City: A Story That Changes Everything
LA traffic is unavoidable, but how you move through it can change the entire way you experience the city.
If you have ever worried about facing LA traffic while planning your trip, you are not alone. Los Angeles is known for its slow highways and busy streets, which often intimidate first time visitors. But there is a different way to approach it, and this simple mindset shift can completely change how you experience the city.
Even LA Traffic rewards you when you slow down enough to see it.
I learned this perspective during my first week in Los Angeles, while listening to a podcast by a Brazilian monk. The episode was called Life in the Big City. It came at the perfect moment, right when I was learning how to navigate LA, understand its rhythm, and deal with the reality of traffic.
In the episode, she talked about moving to São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil and one of the most traffic heavy places in the world. She said something that stayed with me for years. She already knew that heavy traffic was part of the city. She did not expect it to improve simply because a monk had decided to live there.
She explained that she could not control the traffic, but she could control her reaction to it.
Sometimes the city stops you so you can actually see what’s in front of you.
One day, while stuck in a long line of cars, she noticed a small café right by the road. Brazilians love coffee, so she made a mental note. Later that week, she returned to the café and discovered one of the best cups of coffee she had tasted in a long time.
Her realization was simple. If she had chosen to be angry, she would have missed that moment. She would only have seen a stressful traffic jam instead of an opportunity to discover something new.
This mindset changed the way I see Los Angeles. Slowing down helps you notice details you usually overlook. A mural you never saw before. A street performer. A neighborhood with character that you only understand when you are not rushing.
The moment you stop fighting the traffic, you start seeing the city.
The truth is that LA traffic is part of the city. But it does not have to ruin your experience. You can explore Los Angeles with presence, patience and curiosity. The more present you are, the more the city reveals itself to you.
And if you want to enjoy Los Angeles without worrying about driving, parking, traffic or navigation, that is exactly what I offer. I help travelers explore LA in a comfortable and fully guided way. You get to enjoy the moment, experience the city with calm, and see the best of Los Angeles without any stress.
Think of it as a private Los Angeles tour designed to help you stay present while the city unfolds around you.
Even on the slowest days, LA finds a way to surprise you.
